How reviews work

Anyone who orders a book from us can rate it, once per order. We ask everyone the same way: in the email we send a few days after the book should have arrived, and on this site if you come back after that. We don't pick who to ask.

We publish every rating and review after a quick check, usually within a day or two. We never hold one back for being critical. We only take out anything unlawful or abusive, and personal details like a full name, an address or a phone number.

We never pay for reviews or give anything in return for one. Now and then we give someone a book free, such as a journalist or someone who helped us test the site. If they review it, it's labelled "Free copy".

Ratings without a written review count towards the average too. The name shown is the one the reviewer chose to give.
